The Constitutional Tribunal issued on 2 June 2015 a judgement of great importance for workers on civil law contracts (e.g. managerial contracts, contracts of mandate) and their employers. In its judgement the Tribunal stated that restricting such persons' rights to form and join trade unions was in conflict with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland.

The judgment provides for no transitional period for its effectiveness. This means that workers on civil law contracts will have the right to form and join trade unions as soon as the judgment is published in the official Journal of Laws. In practice, this usually happens about 14 days after the judgement date. Regardless of the above, the Polish legislation is expected to undergo some revolutionary changes in the nearest future to give workers on civil law contracts some new powers.
